Wazzup: WhatsApp Web in a window of its own
WhatsApp Web was built for a browser tab, so it acts like one: buried among others, gone when the tab closes, with no icon of its own. Wazzup gives it a real Mac window, a real Dock icon, and native camera and microphone access for calls, while leaving WhatsApp’s own interface exactly as it is underneath.
Download Wazzup, free 10-day trial Buy Wazzup Pro, 19 euro a year
Requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. Runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The download is a .zip: open it and the disk image is inside.
What it does
- A real Mac window. Its own Dock icon, its own title bar, and calls that work, with camera and microphone access a browser tab cannot get.
- Multiple accounts. Each in its own fully isolated WhatsApp session, switched from a real profile photo in the window’s own control strip.
- Recover deleted messages. A message someone deletes for everyone is kept right where it was, tagged as deleted.
- On-device translation. Hover a message and translate it with Apple’s own on-device translator. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Snippets, quiet hours and a global hotkey. Canned replies, scheduled Do Not Disturb with an auto-reply, and a system-wide shortcut to show or hide the window from anywhere.
- Colour themes, wallpaper and Work Mode. Restyle the whole page to match your Mac, or grey the whole page out except for one thing hidden in the wallpaper.
Free tier and Wazzup Pro
The trial lasts 10 days with everything unlocked. After that Wazzup keeps working on the free tier, and nothing you have is locked when the trial ends. Work Mode and the compact avatars-only view are free forever, in every tier.
Wazzup Pro is 19 euro a year and unlocks multiple accounts beyond the first, deleted-message recovery, Quick Translate, Snippets, Export, chat wallpaper and colour theme, and Autocorrect. Already on the free tier? Buying Pro unlocks it on the same Mac, with no reinstall.
